Our goal is to encourage you to receive services when needed to enhance your life, profession, and relationships, not detract.
When should you seek therapy or counseling? If you notice that your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors have shifted, or your relationships are changing at home, work, or socially and interfere in one or more areas of your life, it may be time to seek therapy. It may stem from stress, life in general, or you may have experienced a traumatic event or succession of events, even if it is hard to admit to yourself. Over the course of time, you are not the same person you were or want to be. Perhaps those around you that matter and care about you have told you they are concerned about you or your relations. Don’t wait until it becomes so profound before going to see a professional. If you are here reading this site, perhaps you are aware that you or a loved one could benefit from counseling. Depending on your goal, it could be brief, short term, or long term therapy.
About therapy: Therapy can help assist you in rising above challenges, and obstacles, gain insight, inspire, and increase your understanding and acceptance of yourself, others, and situations and improve your quality of life. These goals may be short term or long term designed to improve your quality of life, learning, and building upon the positive aspects of who you are in a healthy manner.
Whatever your goals are, they are identified by YOU. Your provider may make suggestions on how to work on these areas in a collaborative manner, based upon who you are, what you need, and how best to attain your objective, but you determine the goal.
Please, do not let the stigma or misconceptions of mental health services or counseling deter you from seeking therapy from a qualified licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or marriage and family therapist. Find the therapist that YOU feel comfortable with, that 'gets' you and your unique circumstances. You will find these professionals genuinely desire help you be the best of who you can be.
Seeking counseling is not a weakness; it is a sign of strength.
